Not to be missed to understand the greatness of the Republic of Venice and its history.
The Doge's Palace was the residence of the Doge and the seat of the government and the judiciary, with courts, prisons and armories.
Next to it is the Basilica of San Marco, once the private chapel of the Doge and now the city's cathedral, which houses the relics of San Marco Evangelista. A thousand years of history, art and religious devotion are concentrated here, illuminated in the gold of its mosaics.
